ART 507: American Art

This course examines the development of American painting and sculpture from the Colonial period through the 1930s. In addition to the study of the major artists and artwork, the role of American art in defining American values and identity will be explored. In this course, the term “American” applies to the United States of America and we will focus primarily on Euro-American art due to time constraints.
