A study of the legislative process and it’s relationship to the other branches of government, political parties, Interest groups, and the electorate.

Major, Minor, Elective credit. Selected topics in the American political process with particular attention to political participation and public policy. Since the content will vary, it may be taken more than once for credit if the topic is a different one.

A study of presidential elections, presidential power, and the role of the federal bureaucracies.

A review of bench mark cases of the Supreme Court in the areas of the development of judicial review, federalism, the separation of powers, and the relationship between the government and the economy.

A study of the United States from the end of World War II to the present.

A study of the black civil rights movement from the early 1950’s through the 1970’s and beyond.

A study of the electoral process in the United States. Emphasis will be placed on political parties, voting decisions, and political campaigns.
